5 PC Games For the Non-Gamer

5 PC Games For the Non-Gamer Image via Flickr user SS Games Online.Youre a test subject forced by a sinister, narcissistic robot to run through dangerous experiments, armed with a trusty gun that can shoot blue and orange portals. In one portal, out the other. Simple enough, right? Add in some devilishly difficult puzzles, a smattering of subtle, dry wit that will make you chuckle, an innovative physics system and you have the Portal series. The games are addicting, immersive, smart, and darkly hilarious. Just dont believe the AI when she says shell give you cake.2. Plants vs. ZombiesImage via Flickr user Allen GarvinQuick! There are zombies coming towards your lawn! What do you do? Plants vs. Zombies says, Gardening. Popcaps tower defense game has the player utilize a full arsenal of plants, from peashooters to wallnuts, to keep zombies off their lawn. With mini-games, puzzle and survival modes to flesh out the experience, Plants vs. Zombies also features an amusing cast of undead and plant characters. The game caters to gamers of all skill levels, starting off easy and gradually increasing in difficulty each level, making this games learning curve a very short one. Dont let the cute zombies eat your brains; fight back with the power of chlorophyll!3. The Sims 3Image via Flickr user joshweptThe Sims 3 is a god game. You put yourself in the place of a god and control every action your sims make. You are in charge of every aspect of their lives, and are responsible for meeting their needs (hygiene, hunger, bladder, fun, etc.) and fulfilling their wishes. With almost endless possibilities to which friends your Sim makes, what jobs they will take, what personality they have, what their house will look like, the choice is all yours what to do with the game. Surprisingly engrossing, The Sims 3 is a great game for closet interior designers, the inner sadists in us that like to watch our Sims burn literally, and basically everyone who enjoys being in control of life.4. Assassins Creed seriesImag e via Flickr user shanewarne_6000Templars vs. Assassins รข€" the epic battle that has spawned five major games. Taking on the role of Desmond Miles, a man who explores the pasts of his Assassin ancestors through a device called the Animus, players use parkour and fighting moves to sneak, sprint and slaughter their way through ancient cities. With a major following in the gamer community, Assassins Creed is a series that requires a bit of a learning curve, but after learning the basics, youll be running through cities with the best of them, assassinating targets, and slinking around rooftops with the best of them. The stunningly beautiful animation, historical accuracy and immense sense of freedom make the Assassins Creed series excellent gateway games for non-gamers looking to join the fight!5. SkyrimImage via Flickr user JBLivinThe fifth installment in Bethesdas Elder Scrolls series, Skyrim is all over the web, in memes and articles alike. Whats all the hype about? The game features a gorgeously detailed world that encourages players to do whatever they want. Players can slay mighty dragons or choose to skin rabbits instead, they can go on as many or as few side quests as they wish, and have a blast doing so. The compelling game has a reputation of sucking people in for weeks on end with its choose-your-own-adventure style plot and a whopping average of 75 hours of gameplay. If youre not one for going outside and youve got a hankering for adventure, pick up Skyrim and start battling dragons! These five games earned my picks for great games that both non-gamers and pro-gamers can enjoy.
